Welcome to the NORTH AREA SPORTSMAN'S ASSOCIATION website!
We are a nonprofit group open to the public for the purpose of sharing our experiences and building a network of responsible anglers and hunters. This group is the oldest of its type in the Sacramento, California area, having been created in the late 1940's by Veterans returning from WW II. Here we are some 60 years later still active and growing!... why don't you Join US?  2012

Our Next Dinner Meeting will be on Thursday evening June 7, 2012 at The Buggy Whip Restaurant, as usual. Call Bill Templin for details at 916-601-9954. We always begin our meetings with a "No host Ice Breaker" that begins at 6:15 p.m. with Dinner at 7:15p.m. followed by a Guest Speaker (to be determined). You can also participate in our fund raising raffles and other activities following the speaker to end the evening of fun.

We want to thank the guys from Hurliman Boat and Repair for being our guests at our March 2012 meeting to remind us of what we need to do to our boats and motors to have them reliable for this year's fishing seasons.

Those of you who participated in our 2nd Annual Sporting Clays outing at Linc Raahauges Pheasant Preserve on March 11, know that in spite of the weather, a great time was had by all (especially John Furnas, who moved from last place in 2011 to 1st Place in 2012!) See photos of the event on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/North-Area-Sportsmens-Association/165076920264945

You can see photos from our 2nd Annual Lake Shasta Houseboat trip, April 23-27, 2012 here on this website and on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/North-Area-Sportsmens-Association/165076920264945

2011

We had a great turnout and show of support at our Annual Membership Drive meeting,on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Buggy Whip. We had a special Guest Speaker visiting us again, Bob Simms from the KFBK Outdoor Show. Bob is always a crowd pleasing speaker and once again did a great job. In addition, for the first time we had a fabulous Abalone Dinner (in cooperation with the Sac-Sierra Chapter of Trout Unlimited and The Upper American River Foundation) as well as our normal Steak Dinner for those who preferred.

Our previous Quarterly Meeting was on Thursday, September 8, 2011 and we were happy to have the opportunity for Carrie Monohan, from The Sierra Fund share with us the results of their Gold Country Angler Survey of what people know about the fish they are eating from our local streams and lakes. Thanks Carrie for a very interesting and educational evening! Once again our members were very attentive and truly enjoyed the evening.

At our June meeting, Dan Bacher, (Editor, The Fish Sniffer) and we want to give Dan a big "Thank You" for a very informative talk. Dan has spoken at our meetings before, but this topic of the 2011 Sacramento River Salmon Season was especially interesting to our members. As usual, we all had wonderful steak dinners with all the trimmings at
The Buggy Whip Restaurant, at 2737 Fulton Ave., Sacramento, CA 95821 (Take Fulton Avenue exit off Business Highway 80). For more information call Bill Templin at 916-601-9954.

We have been pretty active this quarter ... let's keep it up. It's been a lot of fun and good times. ... see photos on our website and for result information come to our next meeting...

Thanks to Jay Rowan, California Department of Fish and Game for informing us about the status of Chinook Salmon in Folsom and other local reservoirs at our March 2011 meeting and to Cynthia LeDoux-Bloom, U.C. Davis Fisheries, for being our Guest Speaker at our December. 2, 2010 meeting!.

Our anglers have been very busy during the month of May 2011. Starting with a 2 houseboat, 3 fishing boat trip to Lake Shasta; followed by our annual Kokanee Derby at Stampede with a side trip to Donner Lake; and a couple of us even made a quick trip up to Lake Oroville to check the Coho populations... we can report that they are still very healthy.
